The series is set in the mid eighteenth century. Richard and Rose meet, fall in love and marry, but are beset by problems engendered by Richard’s past life and his ownership of the staff agency Thompson’s, which is not only a staff agency, but a spy network and private army.

Richard Kerre, Lord Strang is heir to the great earldom of Southwood. After his twin brother Gervase fled England from a scandal, Richard became determined to wreak his revenge on society. A series of outrageous scandals has made his name notorious. Then he meets Rose, and his whole world changes.
Rosalind Golightly is the daughter of a country gentleman, and has lived all her life in Devonshire. She is reconciled to spinsterhood, having reached the ripe old age of 25. Until, that is, she meets Richard.

The stories are told from her point of view. Imagine that Rose is sitting at a table telling you about her history. Fine lace is falling over her elbows, she’s wearing an elegant confection of blue silk, and she has a happy, reminiscent smile on her face.

Every new cover features the lovely artwork created by Joanne Renaud, a very talented artist and a fellow enthusiast of the eighteenth century.

When Rose Golightly accompanies her family on a visit to their cousins in Yorkshire she finds the once great Hareton Abbey is run down, ruinous. The only other guests at Hareton are the Kerre brothers, intimidating and haughty leaders of society.
A double tragedy throws Rose into the company of Richard Kerre, Lord Strang, when he is seriously wounded in the coach accident which leaves two people dead. They discover that what at first appeared accidental was in fact a deliberate act of sabotage. Rose and Richard set out to solve the mystery, and find passion in each other.
But Richard is to marry the frigid Julia Cartwright in a few weeks, and has deliberately closed his heart to love. He has turned his thoughts away from passion—until he meets Rose.
Love will not be denied and after a taste of Rose, Richard refuses to let her go.

It’s imperative for Richard and Rose to work together to defeat this foe, but their new distance could prove their undoing. Especially when Mother Nature conspires to make them endure one last, desperate test of their love…

Richard and Rose Short Stories

 

The Unexpected Samaritan is set before Richard meets Rose, and is a glimpse into the life he led before. He comes to the rescue of two old friends. A Question of Honour explains why Richard leaves his home earlier than expected, to arrive at Rose’s home in Devonshire before their wedding. His mother’s machinations to drive them apart start here. Barbara’s Wedding is a deleted chapter from Hareton Hall. It describes the wedding of Rose’s best friend, and shows how the relationship between Richard and Rose is developing. Farewell Richard and Rose explains how I came to write the books, and their publication adventures, from the early days of epublishing to their eventual home at Samhain. I also tell you how Richard came to be. He wasn’t the character I imagined at all! Will there be more adventures for Richard and Rose? I honestly don’t know. I have some ideas, but so far, I’ve not developed them further. Would you like to see them?
